The Belgrave Food Garden (BFG) will hold their first Working Bee on Saturday, December 11th, at the community garden beds behind Inspiro and Cameo Cinemas in Belgrave.
This event will run between 10 am – 2 pm with volunteers welcome to drop-in or stay the whole 4 hours. Children are welcome but must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian at all times.
Tasks to be completed on the day include:
Weeding paths and beds
Building a hot compost
Topping up garden beds with soil and mulch
Litter picking
Seed planting
Seeds have been donated from the Belgrave Seed Library for planting into jiffy pots – these can either be taken home on the day or given to Jasmine at the Belgrave Library for care and later planting in the Food Garden.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own tools if possible, wear sturdy footwear and be mindful of sun/weather protection. Gloves are recommended, and masks are advised when working with seed raising mix and compost. BYO refreshments or visit one of Belgrave’s nearby eateries within walking distance from the garden.
In line with the current COVID regulations, all visitors aged over 12 years and 2 months who attend this event must produce evidence of vaccination and check-in via the Service Victoria app.
