Though coming together in person may not be possible this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, there are still ways that we can commemorate the significance of ANZAC day and pay tribute together as a community.

As traditionally occurs each Anzac Day, the Australian War Memorial will host the National Dawn Service, which will be broadcast live on ABC TV and iView.

RSL Victoria have provided the following audio recording for those commemorating at home, to be played just before 6am. It encourages people to stand on their driveways, balconies or in their backyards with a candle or a torch. .As the Last Post is played, we are asked to find a place of quiet reflection and observe a minute of respectful silence.
People are also encouraged to share any images from their street on social media and RSL Victoria’s Facebook page with the hashtag #STANDTO.
Local gatherings have predictably been cancelled, but many RSL Clubs have posted their own online events and created virtual resources to assist residents to celebrate ANZAC Day at home while in isolation.

Emerald RSL have created a moving community tribute video on their website and have also posted the following clip, which includes a full rendition of The Last Post and The Ode read by Australian actor Jack Thompson, to be played during this time of reflection.
For residents of Gembrook, those in close proximity to Gembrook RSL are asked to listen for resident trumpeter Glenn playing The Last Post and Reveille as they stand outside at the end of their driveways.
